Welcome to Year 3B!

A huge welcome to all of our children and families. Please read this page to keep up to date with our focus for learning throughout the year. We are going to be asking, 'Where are we going and who are we going to meet?' throughout every unit of work. We will be travelling around the world and meeting many significant individuals. I am sure you will really enjoy the topics this year.

All of our Autumn 1 learning is listed below. If you have any questions do not hesitate to speak to us before or after school or send a message on ClassDojo during school hours.

Miss Batool and Miss Turner

During this term, we will be looking at place value and also will be revising Year 2 topics such as addition and subtraction.

We are focusing on One Plastic Bag which explores the impact of plastic waste and the importance of recycling and reusing. We will be creating a persuasive advert based on this.

We are looking at the topic of animals including humans and the importance of diet. In this half term, we will become experts in nutrition and advise our clients, just like personal trainers!

We are exploring Ancient Egypt during this half term. We will meet the infamous King Tutankhamun, learn about mummification and other weird and wonderful customs from the Golden Age.

We will look at the formal elements of art, beginning with the shapes we see around us. We will also focus on geometry in the objects we see around us and become better with shades and tones.

Spellings will be given on Monday each week. Spellings will be given on Class Dojo as opposed to paper print-outs. Please make sure your child is practising them each day as spelling tests will be on Friday of the same week.

Computing will be taught by Technola every Monday morning.

In PE, the focus is Basketball. Remember to attend school in your PE kit on Tuesdays.

In PHSE/RSE, we will be looking at family and relationships as well as how to keep healthy and be good citizens of the world.

We will be practicing our times tables every day! Children will be given their own log in for the TTRS website where they can access and practice in their own time too. Our aim is to get faster and proficient at our times tables.

We will be exploring the song ‘Let the Spirits Fly’ over this half term. We will discuss different aspects of the song and learn to recognise the sounds of different instruments as well as learn the song and sing it beautifully.
