Summer 1
We have a very busy half term planned and will continue to visit different places and meet different people through our 'Where are we going and who will we meet?' curriculum.
English
In English we are going to be looking at Beegu by Alexis Deacon. We will be predicting what the front cover will look like, creating a friend for Beegu and using expanded noun phases to describe the characters.
Maths
This Half term in Maths we will be Exploring numbers to 40 by Counting in Tens and Ones, Comparing Numbers, Finding How Much More, Making Number Patterns and Addition and Subtraction – word problems
We will then look at Multiplication by Making Equal groups, Adding Equal groups
Making Equal rows, Doubles and Solving word problems
Science
Children will be able to identify and name a variety of common wild and garden plants, including deciduous and evergreen trees.
They will also identify and describe the basic structure of a variety of common flowering plants, including trees.
History
The children will find out about the influential nurses Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. The children will investigate what makes a person significant. They will explore and compare the lives and work of these nurses and find out how they have influenced nursing today.
RE
Who is Muslim and how do they live?
In RE we will be starting off looking at who and what is special to me and we will then be looking at the 5 pillars of Islam and how they are important to Muslims.
PE
Children will be learning how to hit, throw and catch a ball within tennis, cricket and rounders activities
Art
Art and Craft – Woven wonders and Embellishments
Learning fibre art skills such as plaiting, threading, knotting and weaving to create three-dimensional woven artworks inspired by artist Cecilia Vicuña. |
