Welcome to Year 4/5T
Welcome to the second half of our Summer Term. I hope you have had a restful May half term and are now ready to continue with our online learning. I will keep this page updated daily with the activities and learning for each day. I have attached a timetable of a typical day of activities to do. I understand it may be hard to stick to a routine but it is just a guideline. I will try to give as much support as possible through instructions by myself (visual, audio, video, etc). Hopefully we will be back to normal soon as we miss you all lots.
Each day will consist of multiple activities: Maths and Literacy will be daily. I will also be sending video clips, challenges and providing lots more learning opportunities to keep you busy. Just click the sub links below to access your learning for each day.
Listed below are a number of useful links to help your children continue their learning at home:
The majority of updates will be posted on the school website and our Class Dojo page.
The Body Coach Joe Wicks has announced he will be holding live daily PE lessons for kids to help keep children fit and healthy while they are not at school during the coronavirus pandemic.
Timestable Rockstars: This website will help your child improve their speed and accuracy in recalling their times tables. I will post updates into our class Dojo to let the children know what time to log on. We can then take part in a class battle together. In addition to this we recommend your child completes one task a day, they have their own password.
BBC Newsround: This topical news based website includes a daily news programme, film clips and quizzes based on current world events. This is something we use regularly in school and we would recommend you visit this site daily. In class the children make notes about the news and share it with an adult. Please encourage your child to do this at home too.
Purple Mash: This website is a treasure trove of activities and is somewhere to visit to keep your children engaged across the curriculum. Again, your child has their own password.
BBC Bitesize provides the children with some interesting games and videos to support them with their learning in Geography, History, RE, Music, French and many more subjects. Click the link below and explore the website to find a link to our current topics.

Our P.E topic for this term is invasion games. Children will require their P.E. kits every Tuesday and Friday. They should leave it in school until the half term holiday. This will ensure that they don’t regularly forget their P.E. kit. The children will need either pumps or trainers as the children will participate in outdoor and indoor activities throughout the term. If your child doesn’t have the correct footwear, they may not be able to participate in certain activities, which would have a negative impact on their physical development.
Children will be given a spelling list every Friday, please ensure your child practices these as they will be tested on these spellings the following Thursday. To support them further, encourage children to form sentences with the words given.
Children will be given learning log challenges each term which is linked to the work they have been covering throughout the topic. This needs to be handed in on specific dates, please take this opportunity to work with your child and tackle the challenges with a creative, imaginative mind that celebrates you child's ideas. Please take a look at our homework grid below.
Reading books will be changed every Wednesday. Please ensure that books and signed reading diaries are in school by Wednesday. Library books will be changed every week. It is important that your child reads every evening. This could be done independently or with the help of an adult or older sibling.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to us in the morning or at the end of the school day.
