Rights and Respecting School
The Rights and Respecting School approach promotes our courageous advocacy by empowering pupils to understand their rights and the rights of others, encouraging them to speak up and take action for justice and equality. Through promoting the values of respect, kindness, and empathy, pupils learn to advocate for the rights of themselves and others, fostering a sense of social responsibility and nurturing their moral compass.
This approach also enables pupils to flourish and develop spiritually by instilling values of fairness, inclusivity, and compassion. By learning about and respecting the rights of all individuals, pupils develop a deeper understanding of human dignity and the interconnectedness of humanity. This fosters a sense of belonging and empathy, allowing them to develop spiritually by embracing values that align with their own beliefs and nurturing a sense of purpose and meaning in their lives.
The Rights and Respecting School approach provides opportunities for pupils to explore global issues, diverse perspectives, and social justice topics, fostering critical thinking, empathy, and a sense of agency. Pupils are encouraged to take positive action, both within their school community and beyond, to create a more just and equitable world. This engagement in courageous advocacy not only promotes the flourishing of pupils as individuals but also cultivates their spiritual growth by connecting their beliefs and values with tangible actions that make a positive difference in the world.

St Thomas's supporting soccer aid. Updates to come on how much money we have raised. The money raised through Soccer Aid for UNICEF will help support the vital work of UNICEF. For example: £10 could help provide enough life-saving therapeutic food for a child for one week. £20 could provide life-saving measles vaccines for 28 children.

Well done St Thomas's, you raised £172 from the cake sale. The St Thomas's Saviours decided to donate £100 to just.tree.life. This will enable them to plant 100 trees in various countries to help maintain a sustainable environment. The St Thomas's Saviours also went shopping with the remaining money and plan to build a vegetable garden in school and hopefully grow vegetables to share with our local community. Not only will this help with the cost of living, it will also reduce the carbon foot print.
The St Thomas's Saviours taught each class about duty bearers and right holders. The children enjoyed quizzes and activities and won prizes for being the most knowledgeable. The St Thomas's savours did a fantastic job!
Please come and support the St Thomas' Saviours. Next week there is a cake sale during every break time. For every £1 raised one tree will be planted. Thank you in advance for supporting us to campaign for a healthier environment for us all.
