Phonics

To start today's phonics please can you recap all of your phase 3 and phase 5 sounds. You can use your sound mats or you could use the flash cars on phonics play www.phonicsplay.co.uk

 

 

 

Can you now practice some your tricky words- You need to be able to read and spell these! Practise the ones that you find difficult. Choose up to 5.

            

 

Today we are going to look at the sound 'ir' like in bird 'ur' like in burn and 'er' like it tiger. 

Can you read and write these words?

bird           burn       tiger 

first          turtle     otter 

whirl          turnip     letter 

chirp          nurse     player 

 

Write the words on flash cards and sort into the column with the correct digraph.

Warm-up – Can you practice doubling numbers

Pick a number up to 5, can your child recognise the corresponding double fact? Re-enforce numbers they struggle with practical objects.

When they are confident move onto numbers 6-10.

 

The aim is for rapid recall.

From tomorrow we are going to start doing some sentence work on the bbc website: Small Town Superheroes.

So today I would like you to create your own superhero (like we have done in class). You can use the template below or just draw your own.

Can you write the sentence starter and then complete it with your own ideas? Use your imagination with your answers, it’s up to you.

Topic

As you all know the NHS and the doctors and nurses are really important in helping us to fight the corona virus. So I thought it would be a good idea to find out about a famous nurse who was one of the first nurses to help to clean up hospitals and help poorly people get well. Watch the video and complete the activity.
