Phonics
To start today's phonics please can you recap your phase 3 and phase 5 sounds that you find tricky. You can use your sound mats or you could use the flash cars on phonics play https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/
Can you now practice some of your tricky words- You need to be able to read and spell these! Practise the ones that you find difficult. Choose up to 5.

This half term we are going to be looking at alternative pronunciations and alternative spellings. Today we are going to look at the 'u' when it makes the letter name rather than the letter sound (Please remind your child of the 5 vowels when teaching them as these will be the focus this week - these are a,e,i,o,u)
Can you read these words?
unit union
unicorn duty
music tuba
human
Use these games to practice your 'u' sound, is it the letter name or the letter sound that it makes?

Literacy
This week we have been reading and writing poems and think about verbs. Can you remember what verbs are?
That’s right, they are action or doing words. Below is a worksheet with a range of words. Your job is to read them and recognise all the verbs and draw a circle around them.
Then complete the sentences with the correct verbs.
Finally write two sentences of your own that include a verb. Can you underline the verb?
Topic
