Our School Day
The school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm. Registration is from 8.45am to 9.00am where the children will undertake Early Morning work. In line with Government guidance this enables the school to deliver a school week of 32.5 hours a week.
Morning playtimes
All children in KS1 and KS2 have a morning playtime at 10.30am which lasts for 15 minutes. Children in Reception have a separate playground to children in Y1-Y6. Children take part in the Daily Mile as part of their break on a rota basis
Lunch
All our KS1 children have their lunch at 12:00– 12:45 pm. Children eat their lunch at staggered times and play outside on their respective playground for the rest of the time.
All our KS2 children have their lunch from 12:20-13:05. Children eat their lunch at staggered times and play outside or take part in the daily mile.
Afternoon playtimes: An afternoon playtime can be taken in Reception and Key Stage 1 at the discretion of staff on split playgrounds.
Collective Worship
Our Collective worship is held on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning at 10:15. These are led by various adults including school leaders, local parish leaders as well community leaders including those from the local mosque.
Our whole school CELEBRATION is held every Friday at 1:30pm for KS1 and KS2.
On Thursday the children have Collective Worship singing from 9am
Drop-off and collection
At the beginning and end of the school day, parents are encouraged into the playground. This helps to build up a close relationship between home and school – we want to have good links with all parents. If normal arrangements must be altered (eg you are delayed or another person is collecting your child), please let us know. This avoids any confusion or upset.
Breakfast Club
Offering a quality start to the day. At St Thomas's Primary school we offer a breakfast club from 08:00 this for a small donation of £1 a day. For this the children get a healthy breakfast, support with homework and help with reading or they can take part in any of the activities available in the morning including games or craft activities.
