11:00am - 12:15pm LITERACY/READING
Activity 1: Read 'If I were a king' poem
Your grammar focus has been subjunctives so you should be becoming more familiar with it and seeing it in different genres of writing. Today, you need to read 'If I were a king', which is a poem. After you have read the poem, can you reflect on the following:
- Do you like/dislike the poem? If so, why?
- Can you spot any patterns in the poem?
- Which is your favourite verse and why?
Activity 2: Write your own version of 'If I were a king' poem
Now it is time for you to get creative with your writing. I would like you to use 'If I was a king' as your inspiration and make up your own poem. The poem is silly and fun to read so that is what you should be aiming for when you write yours. To make it easier, you may choose to use the same countries used in the poem but you must create your own follow up verse. Try to be creative year 6! Try to come up with 6 stanza's (sections of poem)! Send me your poem when it is finished!
Activity 3: Perform your poem
Now you have spent your time creating your masterpiece, I would like you to practice saying it out loud. This is your poem, so you choose how you would like it to sound. You can record it and send it to me over Class Dojo.
