Phonics

Phonics

The children work on Phase One Phonics in Nursery. We do this whilst playing in the areas and at focussed group times.

Phase One Phonics is all about getting the children tuned into listening to different sounds these could be environmental sounds or instrumental sounds. We teach the children about rhyming words and develop their ability to identify rhyming words. The children learn the initial sounds of words and think about alliteration. We explore the different sounds we can make with our voices and we look at oral blending and segmenting words.

In Nursery we have help with our Phonics from our friend Mr Tig Tog.
