Monday 27th April

Good Morning Year 1,

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend in the sunshine.

Well done to all the children who completed last week’s

challenges. I am super proud of the hard work you have been doing and I have been sharing your efforts on class story.

Let’s see how many of can complete today’s activities.

Mrs E

Continue with activities in the daily phonics and reading activities on the website. Recap phase 3 and phase 5 sounds from sound mats or on phonics play.

Focus sounds for today are ay, ai and a-e

Can you read and write the words?

tray                      rain            cake

crayon                  train           plane

holiday                 again           snake

yesterday            chain          amaze

Write the words on flash cards and sort into the column with the correct diagraph.

Can you think of any more words you could put in your chart?

Warm-up – Continue counting forwards and backwards in twos. When they are confident, start from different starting points e.g 6, 8, 10 … or  16,14,12…

Children can then recognise you can count in twos starting from an odd number e.g 1,3,5

Play whack-a-mole – This game will support the above activity:

or sequencing numbers – to support the activity

Complete the lesson on the White Rose hub website (see links below)

Week 3: Lesson 1– Making doubles

Watch the video and then attempt the questions.

Either print and complete, write the answers on a separate sheet or discuss the answers with an adult or older brother or sister.

This week we are going to read a new story called The Way Back Home by Oliver Jeffries. It is about a little boy who builds himself a rocket and goes off to space. See powerpoint below.

Think about what questions you would like to ask him. Can you use question words – Who, Why and What. Can you write up to 3 sentences? Remember to use question marks.

Watch the short video on bbc bitesize about question marks to support you.

Remember, you can post your work on Class Dojo to show me what you have done. There are lots of dojo points on offer! smiley
