Wednesday, 1st July
Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a lovely day yesterday.
Here are today's tasks...
MATHS
Warm up
Play 'Name the 3D shape' by using the powerpoint attached below. Which can you remember?
Main session
Today we will continue our shape work with a focus on sorting 2D and 3D shapes.
What ways could you sort them? (Think about their differences)
Watch the videos on the BBC Bitesize website. You don't need to do the work sheets on it as I have attached work to be completed below.

Now watch this video.
YEAR 2- SUMMER TERM- WEEK 8- LESSON 3
https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/
If you need to you can refer back to the key information sheets on shape in Y2 on Monday's page.
Afterwards I would like you to try the sheet attached below and check your work against the answers.
Remember, you can either print it, write the answers out or discuss them with a family member.
CHALLENGE
If your child finds the White Rose sheet fairly easy I have also attached an additional problem solving activity. As that suggests the questions are more tricky, take time and are to extend learning further. They get more difficult as you work through them. The answers are also provided to support you to review the work.

LITERACY
Lets continue our letter today. Yesterday you set out the start of the letter and wrote your first paragraph about you and your family. You will continue to add to your letter by writing about your hobbies and likes/dislikes and what you do and don't like at school.
Tomorrow we can then write our final paragraph and our sign off and draw a picture to accompany it all about yourself. On Friday we will finish our week as we always do with a comprehension.
Remember, you don't need to start a new sheet, just add to your existing letter.
Hobbies:
You can share any hobbies that you have or anything that you would like to do. Maybe you have tried something new during lockdown.
Example:
My hobbies are riding my bike and dancing. I enjoy riding my bike because I get to go outside and I am really fast. I also go to dance classes and am learning street dance, it is fast but fun. I also really like to play on my iPad because I get to watch my favourite programmes and play games but my mum only lets me play for a little while each day. During lockdown I have started to go on lots of walks which have actually been fun as it has been sunny. I have also been doing some planting. I planted some sunflower seeds at the start of lockdown and they are growing very well, I'm very happy.
School:
After you have completed your paragraph on hobbies do a paragraph about school.
Example:
I really enjoy coming to school and my favourite time of day is play time. When we play I go on the monkey bars and I am really good at them. My favourite subjects are maths and science because I find them interesting and I like doing investigations. I am not as keen on art as I wish I was better at drawing. I like coming to school because I get to see my friends and teachers.

TOPIC- SCIENCE SEASONS
In science we have been learning about the seasons this year. Unfortunately, as we had to go into lockdown we never got chance to do summer. We've definitely had some beautiful weather that has felt like summer over recent weeks!
A year on Earth is made up of four seasons.
Watch this short animation to find out more, reminding ourselves about Autumn, Winter and Spring and learning about Summer.
