Welcome to 6T!

We hope you had a great 2 week break and have recharged your batteries. We have a very busy term coming up so keep looking at our class page for updates. We are starting our Lusitania topic in history, which will link to many other aspects of our Spring 1 curriculum, especially our writing work. Please encourage your children to talk to you at home about what their doing in school.

Children will be issued with homework each week, which will be expected back in during the following week. Please encourage your children to complete their set homework as it will contribute to their understanding of the work we are completing during class time. They will also have a weekly spelling test which will be every Friday morning. They will also be given new spellings each Friday to learn.

Monday - Grammar

Wednesday - Maths

Friday - Spellings

Termly - Learning logs

All children who were selected to attend the United game on the 27th February, please can you bring your £5 contribution in first week back.

As I am sure the children have mentioned to you, our Y6 residential to Robinwood is going ahead this year. The children will be going on the 6th July this year as we have had to split the cohort into two separate visits. We will be giving out letters regarding your child attending and giving you more detail about pricing. Please talk to your children about going as it is truly an amazing experience that they can have before parting ways to high school.

Next deadline for hoodies, Al-Maidah and Chill factor:

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask us.

Mental health week

This week is children's mental health week and we will be thinking about this as a class. We will be taking part in different brain breaks each day to see which one we like the best.
As you can probably tell from the state of us when we came home on Tuesday, we have had a VERY rainy forest school session. We had plenty of fun collecting wood and planting trees. We got very wet and cold but we did not let it ruin or afternoon! What a fantastic afternoon we had as a class. Thank you Mr Hyde!

Creating artwork based on Kensuke's Kingdom

This week, we have been trying to create our own interpretation of the Kensuke's Kingdom front cover. We used poster paints, water colours and drawing skills to help us bring our artwork to life.
The children have been working incredibly hard to complete work towards our shoebox donations in the last couple of weeks. Our class assembly on the 21st November will be based on our shoebox journey so come along and hear it. I would like to say a massive thank you to parents who have helped support our class charity and for making such an effort.

French song with Madam Bell

This term, the children have been focusing on activities and hobbies in French with Madam Bell. They even learnt a song all about different hobbies in French!
The children have been taking part in the 2019 Bebras challenge. They were asked to complete the challenge individually. They were given a selection of difficult computing tasks which they had to use a variety of different skills to complete them. The children found it very challenging but enjoyed taking part.
