Welcome to 6T!

Summer term 2

It is the start of your final term in Year 6 and at St Thomas's. I never thought we would be starting it this way but unfortunately, we are just very unlucky at the moment. Until we know, there is still no information about when we will return to school again. I will be continuing to provide home learning till the end of this term for all children, whether they come into school or not. If your child is returning to school when we reopen, we will continue to keep you updated about it as we know.

You have all worked so hard during your home learning time and I am so proud of you all. Like I have said all the way through this, the learning you are doing now is just making you stronger Year 7's. The learning you are doing is definitely not a waste. As we move forward through this term, I will start to set you lessons based on high school transition, which you all will find useful. If you have any questions about home learning or anything to do with school, please continue to message on Dojo.

Thank you again to parents and people at home for supporting your child with their home learning.

On ClassDojo, I will be posting daily puzzles for the children and their parents to attempt together. Our first emoji puzzle went down very well with parents so these will be continued to be posted!

There will also be a Kahoot challenge for the children to attempt. The games code will be posted on ClassDojo and the class website. There will be points for the winning team! Children will receive points for their scores and for taking part! Good luck children

We will rock you!

6T and 6J all enjoyed their visit to Derby High School to watch the debut performance of We Will Rock You. The children thoroughly enjoyed the performance as did the staff. Thank you Derby for a fantastic morning!

More mental health week

Mental health week

This week is children's mental health week and we will be thinking about this as a class. We will be taking part in different brain breaks each day to see which one we like the best.

Forest school

As you can probably tell from the state of us when we came home on Tuesday, we have had a VERY rainy forest school session. We had plenty of fun collecting wood and planting trees. We got very wet and cold but we did not let it ruin or afternoon! What a fantastic afternoon we had as a class. Thank you Mr Hyde!

Creating artwork based on Kensuke's Kingdom

This week, we have been trying to create our own interpretation of the Kensuke's Kingdom front cover. We used poster paints, water colours and drawing skills to help us bring our artwork to life.

Our Shoebox Journey for Samaritan's Purse

The children have been working incredibly hard to complete work towards our shoebox donations in the last couple of weeks. Our class assembly on the 21st November will be based on our shoebox journey so come along and hear it. I would like to say a massive thank you to parents who have helped support our class charity and for making such an effort.

French song with Madam Bell

This term, the children have been focusing on activities and hobbies in French with Madam Bell. They even learnt a song all about different hobbies in French!

Bebras Challenge 2019

The children have been taking part in the 2019 Bebras challenge. They were asked to complete the challenge individually. They were given a selection of difficult computing tasks which they had to use a variety of different skills to complete them. The children found it very challenging but enjoyed taking part.
