Good Morning Year 1,
Thank you for all your lovely work yesterday, I was very impressed! I’m looking forward to ringing you later today. I can’t wait to find out what you have been up to.
Let’s see how many of you can complete today’s activities. Remember to show me what you have been doing.
To start today's phonics please can you recap all of your phase 3 and phase 5 sounds that you find tricky. You can use your sound mats or you could use the flash cars on phonics play www.newphonicsplay.co.uk
Can you now practice some of your tricky words- You need to be able to read and spell these! Practise the ones that you find difficult. Choose up to 5.
We are continuing looking at split digraphs. Today I want you to look at ‘e_e’
Can you read these words?
Why don’t you try playing a matching pairs game? Write out the words twice on squares of paper (or print out below) and then turn them over. Take it in turns to see if you can find a matching pair (every time you turn a square over you must say the word out loud). If you find a matching pair and read it correctly, you get to keep the pair. The winner is the person with the most pairs.
Or can you play Buried Treasure and practice ‘e-e’ the sounds?
Reading – Have you read any books from Big Cat Collins?
You should try to read one or two a week.
Remember Choose the colour above your home reading book. There is an activity to complete at the end of the book. Let me know what books you have read there are lots of dojo points on offer.
See Link below (more details on reading activities page on the class website).
Warm-up – Practice quick fire subtraction. Choose 2 numbers within 20.
The aim is for rapid recall.
Practice using Hit the button – Number bonds – subtraction up to 20
How many can you get right?
Complete the lesson on the White Rose hub website (see links below)
Summer Term week 4: Lesson 2 – Subtraction within 20
Either print and complete, write the answers on a separate sheet or discuss the answers with an adult or older brother or sister.
Today the writing activities will carry on from yesterday and focus on how to use 'and' to join sentences.
Begin by watching the following video.
Imagine you live deep in the ocean.
Write three sentences explaining what you can see. Try to use the word 'and' in each sentence.
Here is an example: I can see a whale and some seaweed.
Can you create some underwater artwork? Think of all the animals you saw in the videos yesterday and today. You can create your artwork anyway you choose. Be as creative and imaginative as possible.
