Hello Year 2,
Here are today's tasks...
MATHS
Warm-up
Practice your division facts on Hit the Button. These are very important as they will help you in so many areas of maths.

Main session
Today we will continue our shape work with a focus on 3D shapes. Can you think of any?
Watch the videos on the BBC Bitesize website. You don't need to do the work sheets on it as I have attached work to be completed below.

Now watch this video.
YEAR 2- SUMMER TERM- WEEK 8- LESSON 2
https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/
If you need to you can refer back to the key information sheets on shape in Y2 on Monday's page.
Afterwards I would like you to try the sheet attached below and check your work against the answers.
Remember, you can either print it, write the answers out or discuss them with a family member.
CHALLENGE
If your child finds the White Rose sheet fairly easy I have also attached an additional problem solving activity. As that suggests the questions are more tricky, take time and are to extend learning further. They get more difficult as you work through them. The answers are also provided to support you to review the work.

LITERACY
Today you will start to write your letter.
This is how you set out a letter. You need to remember to write your or the school's address and to address it to 'Dear Teacher'.
For our session today I want you to set out the address and greeting (Dear Teacher) and write your first paragraph about your family. We will then build on this each day until we have our complete letter.
I have added a template for a letter below (there are 3 pages for different sized lines- you only need one). Alternatively just write your letter out on a piece of paper.
I have done a little example of a first paragraph below.
Please add detail to your letter.
Remember the basics:
- Capital letters
- Full stops
- Connectives (and, but, so)
- Subordination (when, because, if)

Dear Teacher,
I am writing to you to tell you more about myself. You are very lucky as I am going to be in your class next year.
Firstly, I'd like to tell you a bit about me and my family. My name is Lucy and I am 7 years old. I live in Bury with my parents and sister. My mum is called Sue and she is a nurse. She has been working very hard during lockdown and I am very proud of her. She is also very good at baking which is good and she makes a delicious chocolate cake! My Dad is called Adam and he is a plumber. He has helped me lots with my work while we have been off school and he plays lots of games with me because he is fun. My sister, Freya is 3 and she is really annoying but cute. She loves to play with me and she sings a lot.

TOPIC- GEOGRAPHY
We have learned about a number of different countries and continents over lockdown including Antarctica, Asia and Australia.
Today you will learn about San Francisco in North America.
San Francisco is in California. California is one of 50 states that make up the United States of America - USA - in the continent of North America.
Watch this short animation in which Freya's Uncle Bob, in San Francisco, has invented an app. Can you guess what the app does?
Click on this link to watch the video.

Watch the videos and complete the activities.
For Activity 2 I have attached the template below but you can just do your poster on a piece of paper.
If you have time once you have completed the videos and activities you could watch the Go Jetters video at the bottom of the page to find out more about North America.
