Good morning Year 1,
I hope you have had a lovely half term and you have been enjoying the lovely weather and been playing outside. For all those celebrating Eid I hope that you had a lovely time. I would love to see how you celebrated this year.
Have a great week and hopefully I will see you soon.

Phonics
To start today's phonics please can you recap your phase 3 and phase 5 sounds that you find tricky. You can use your sound mats or you could use the flash cars on phonics play www.phonicsplay.co.uk
Can you now practice some of your tricky words- You need to be able to read and spell these! Practise the ones that you find difficult. Choose up to 5.

This half term we are going to be looking at alternative pronunciations and alternative spellings. Today we are going to start with 'a' when it makes the letter name rather than the letter sound (Please introduce your child to the 5 vowels when teaching them as these will be the focus this week - these are a,e,i,o,u)
Can you read these words?
table angel
April bagel
stable lady
acorn station
apron nation
Use these games to practice your 'a' sound, is it the letter name or the letter sound that it makes?
