Welcome to Year 2H
Welcome back! We hope you have had a very enjoyable and relaxing break and are now recharged for what is going to be a very busy summer half term. Our learning challenge this half term will be ‘Why do we like to be beside the seaside?”
The children’s learning will be linked to this theme. Hopefully, they will find it exciting and enjoyable. As this is our final term in Year 2 we will be practicing for our Mela and getting ready for our trip to the beach.
Below are details of your child’s weekly routine and any other additional information which may be useful.
PE
Children will require their P.E. kits every Monday and Friday. They should leave it in school until the half term holiday. This will ensure that they don’t regularly forget their P.E. kit. The children will need either pumps or trainers as the children will participate in outdoor and indoor activities throughout the term. If your child doesn’t have the correct footwear, they may not be able to participate in certain activities, which would have a negative impact on their physical development.
Reading Books / Homework
Reading Books & Lending Library – The children will change their reading books twice a week, please ensure your child brings their book on Monday and Thursday for changing. Could you please sign their reading journal to show that your child has read their reading book? Remember, it is important you read with your child for fifteen minutes every evening. The Lending library books will be given out every other Thursday, please ensure your child completes their book review so they can collect points.
Spellings – Children will be given a spelling list every Friday, please ensure your child practices these as they will be tested on these spellings on the Tuesday.
Learning log – Children will be given learning log challenges each term which is linked to the work they have been covering throughout the topic. This needs to be handed in on specific dates, please take this opportunity to work with your child and tackle the challenges with a creative, imaginative mind that celebrates you child's ideas.

We have been learning different skills and techniques in P.E to participate in a variety of competitive games.
Painting our African clay pots.
In Art we have been using Mod Roc to create our African Mask. We will be painting and adding detail next week when they are dry.
In Literacy we have made Magic Wands so we can create Magic Words and Spells. We will also create instructions including verbs, adverbs and prepositions to find our wands when we lose them in FairyLand.
P.E - Learning and developing our multi Skills in tennis. Can one of us be the next Andy Murray???
