10:30am - 11:00am BREAK TIME

Make the most of your break time, you can: go for some fresh air, have a snack, colouring, watch a newsround clip, etc..

11:00am - 12:15pm LITERACY/READING

Activity 1: Watch the Nationwide advert

Today, you are going to be looking at another Nationwide advert. You need to watch the advert, which features Laura in it. You may want to watch it a couple of times before attempting the questions about the video. You may find it useful to look at the questions first so you know what to look out for in the video. Listen carefully to what Laura is saying and talking about.

Questions about Laura's video:

  • What did Laura say sorry for?
  • What two things did she say in her defence?
  • What was her hope for her future self about this?
  • What phrase does Laura repeat?
  • Why does she repeat this?
  • What four things does Laura ask about specifically?
  • What advice does Laura give herself?
  • Who does she mention in particular?

Due to me being back in school, I will be unable to mark all work sent over to me. Therefore, I have provided the answers for all the work on our class page. Please mark the work before sending it to me on Class Dojo.

Activity 2: Formal and Informal language - Apostrophes for contractions

We have been looking at informal and formal language this week. Today, you are going to focus on apostrophes in contractions. You will need to complete the worksheet below when you feel comfortable with using apostrophes. If you need to have another look at apostrophes for contractions, watch some of the videos below and use the powerpoint to help.

Due to me being back in school, I will be unable to mark all work sent over to me. Therefore, I have provided the answers for all the work on our class page. Please mark the work before sending it to me on Class Dojo.

Activity 3: Make notes for yourself in 6 months time

Tomorrow, you are going to creating your own Nationwide advert video. You need to focus on what you think you will say to yourself in 6 months time. You may want to think about what Laura said to herself in her video to give you some ideas. You will need to think about what you will be doing in 6 months time for example, you will be in a new school. Today, you are just going to make notes of your ideas. I would aim to think of 6-10 ideas and then you have a range to pick from tomorrow.

Ideas:

  • What might you jokingly say sorry for?
  • What advice might you give?
  • What might you ask about in particular?
  • Who might you ask about?
