Main session

We are now looking at weighing items over the next few lessons.

Look at the learning summary on comparing volume.

Now watch this video.

YEAR 2- SUMMER TERM- WEEK 10- LESSON 3

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/

COMPARE VOLUME

Afterwards I would like you to try the sheet attached below and check your work against the answers.

Remember, you can either print it, write the answers out or discuss them with a family member.

CHALLENGE

If your child finds the White Rose sheet fairly easy I have also attached an additional problem solving activity. As that suggests the questions are more tricky, take time and are to extend learning further. They get more difficult as you work through them. The answers are also provided to support you to review the work.

You can also refer to the knowledge organiser from Monday to support your learning.

TOPIC- self portrait

This is your topic work for today and tomorrow.

portrait is a picture of one person or a small group of people.

Artists are often asked to create a portrait for somebody or they might create one for someone they love or admire.

self-portrait is a where the artist creates a picture of themselves, like a selfie.

Portraits can be done using different materials, colours or techniques.

In the following video, from the Schools Art and Design series, artist Emma Majury demonstrates how to draw a self portrait.

THIS WILL BE YOUR TOPIC WORK FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW.

Activity 1- WEDNESDAY

Have a go at creating a self-portrait of your inner and outer self - you will need paper, a pencil, colouring crayons or felt tips and a mirror.

Draw a line down the centre of your paper and on one side draw what you look like in the mirror - this is your outer self.

Then, on the other side, draw your thoughts, emoticons, feelings and hobbies (the things people don't normally see) - this is your inner self.

Activity 2- THURSDAY

Create a portrait of a face in the style of Arcimboldo by drawing fruit or vegetables.

Think about which fruit or vegetables could be used for:

  • a nose
  • a mouth
  • eyes
  • cheeks
  • ears

You will need paper, a pencil and colouring crayons or felt tips.
